Meet Elias Stål from Västerås, Sweden

Portrait of Elias Stål. Photo.

What is your educational background?

I did my bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Law at Lund University. Prior to that, I studied economics in high school.

How did your find our master’s programme?

I heard about the Master's programme in European Business Law from my friend from Azerbaijan who attended the programme and lived in the same dorm as me, and also from a lecture during my bachelor studies in law..

How was the process of finding housing in Lund?

Moving and finding housing in Lund can be stressful. But there is plenty of housing for students whether it is through Akademiska Föreningen (AF), the nations, or renting accommodation privately.

How is the study environment at the programme?

The study environment is great at the programme, students are extremely helpful to one another: sharing notes and coordinating well to finish group projects.

The workload can be heavy at times with several lectures and seminars during the same week, but the teachers are thoughtful and supportive when it comes to scheduling.

How many lectures and seminars do you have on a weekly basis?

On average, I would say around three to five, but it varies.

What is the most challenging, and what is the best thing with your programme?

The most difficult part is learning to filter through all the information available to find what is relevant for the topic of a seminar or an examination since the books are thick and the cases are many. The best thing is the high quality of the lectures, and of course the comradery within the class.

How do you experience the student life in Lund?

The student life in Lund is vibrant, inclusive, and diverse. There is something for everyone and there are plenty of opportunities to engage in extracurricular activities either through the faculty or the nations.

Considering almost half of the city's population consists of students, it is difficult finding a city that is better suited for student life.

What are your career goals after your graduation?

After graduating, I plan to continue within the area of business law, and most likely pursue a career at a law firm to help clients with whatever they might need.

Do you have any tips for prospective students coming to Lund?

The most important thing when you come to Lund: join Studentlund! It will give you access to accommodation through AF, and it is necessary for joining in nation events. Also, bring vitamin D for the darker months of the year!
